Privacy Policy

Last updated

This Privacy Policy explains how Mobol handles personal information you provide or that we collect when you use this website. We’ve written it in plain English and aligned it with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Any questions? Email us at hello@mobol.com.au.

Who we are

This website is operated by Mobol, a registered business name of a sole trader based in Perth, Western Australia (ABN 81 902 687 376). You can reach us at hello@mobol.com.au. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Mobol.

As a small business with annual turnover under AU$3 million that does not trade in personal information, provide health services, or hold government contracts, we are not currently required to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We choose to follow the Australian Privacy Principles anyway, as a baseline of good practice, and we are preparing for the privacy law reforms now underway, including the expected removal of the small-business exemption, so these commitments are already in place.

What we collect

We only collect personal information we genuinely need:

  • Contact form submissions: your name, email and the message you send us, so we can reply. Your enquiry is delivered to our inbox by Resend, an email-delivery service.
  • Usage and device data: as you browse, our measurement tools collect technical and usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referring site, and how you interact with a page.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard request data such as IP address, browser and timestamps, for security, debugging and reliability.
  • Marketing attribution: two first-party cookies (mobol_attr_first and mobol_attr_last) record campaign tags (such as utm_source), advertising click identifiers (such as gclid), the site that referred you and the first page you landed on. If you later submit the contact form, this is attached to your enquiry so we know which marketing brought you to us. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information(such as health data, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or biometric data). Please don’t send us this kind of information through the contact form.

Cookies, analytics and session recording

We use a Google Tag Manager container that loads Google Analytics 4 (which sets first-party _ga cookies to count visits and pages) and Microsoft Clarity. Separately we use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to measure traffic and page performance; these are cookieless and use a daily-rotating, non-identifying hash rather than any persistent identifier.

Microsoft Clarity records sessions. It captures anonymised mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and taps, and builds heatmaps, to help us understand and improve how the site is used. We run Clarity in strict masking mode, so text you type, including anything in the contact form message box, is masked on your device before it is sent, and Clarity also masks IP addresses. We exclude our content-management area and legal-policy pages from all recording. Clarity is provided by Microsoft and the data is processed and stored on its servers overseas (primarily the United States).

We don’t use a cookie consent pop-up. In Australia the law is built on transparency and notice rather than the consent banners common in Europe; this policy and our Cookie Policy are that notice. You stay in control through your browser settings and the opt-outs described in the Cookie Policy. We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote or proposal;
  • understand and improve how the site works (analytics, heatmaps and session analysis);
  • measure which marketing brings people to us;
  • keep the site secure, reliable and performant.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

When your information goes overseas

Some of the services we rely on are based overseas, so your information may be processed or stored outside Australia, primarily in the United States. These are Google (Tag Manager and Analytics), Microsoft (Clarity), Vercel (website hosting and analytics) and Resend (email delivery). We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that publish their own privacy commitments.

Marketing emails

If we ever send you marketing or follow-up emails, every message will identify Mobol and include an easy, free way to unsubscribe. You can opt out at any time and we’ll action it within five business days, in line with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We won’t add you to a marketing list without your consent.

How we keep your information

We keep contact-form enquiries in our business inbox for as long as we need them to help you and for our records, then delete or de-identify them unless we’re required to keep them for tax, accounting or contractual reasons. Attribution cookies last about 180 days, and Microsoft retains Clarity recordings for around 30 days. We don’t hold a separate customer database at this time.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls on our hosting provider, and collecting as little as we can.

Data breaches

If we suspect a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will assess it promptly and, where appropriate, notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable, consistent with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, even though it does not currently bind us.

Your privacy rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete;
  • delete information we no longer need to keep, subject to any record-keeping obligations;
  • opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or control cookies through your browser settings.

Email hello@mobol.com.auwith your request and we’ll respond within a reasonable time, at no charge for a reasonable request. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.

Children

Our services are intended for businesses and adults. We don’t direct this site at children and don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Our AI assistant

We’re planning an AI assistant for the site. It is not active yet, and we are not currently sending any information to OpenAI or any other AI provider. We’ll update this policy, including how it works and any new disclosures, before the assistant goes live.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services, providers or obligations change. The “last updated” date at the top of the page is authoritative; we’ll flag material changes here. Australia’s privacy laws are also being reformed, including a statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy and new transparency rules for automated decision-making, and we’ll update our practices as those changes take effect.

Contact and complaints

For privacy questions or to make a complaint, email hello@mobol.com.au. We take complaints seriously and will respond in writing. This policy is governed by the laws of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia as they apply in Western Australia.
